This piece is made by utilizing hundreds of bronze plates and leather. Each plate is formed by hand and embroidered manually onto llama leather by the artist. The hand made nature of the piece references local craft practices while the formal reference to painting places the work within a different history. This work is a dialogue between contemporary art production and regional histories of object making. The soft leather plated with the hard metal speaks to a contradictory yet complimentary relationship.
