Tiempos consists of 80 slides containing the same image projected in an endless loop. Each slide is visible for a few seconds as the tray rotates automatically atop the analogue slide projector. The image on display is a portrait of Lily, the artists’ grandmother, a few hours after her death. The projector itself is an integral part of the work, functioning as a clock which marks the end of one timeline and the continuation of another. Referencing traditions of portraiture of the dead, this piece is both a tribute and a document.
