About
A banana peel is suspended from a small wire hanger as though it were clothing, its toy like scale is playful.
This piece corresponds to the time when the artist was producing very labor-intensive works concerning absence, death and memory. Through the humble materiality and simplicity of gesture, the artist was seeking to subvert his own process, bringing to the fore alternative production methods that, while speaking to the same concepts, offer new ways to communicate. Executed with a fair bit of humor, this piece is the product of constant experimentation with materials, an essential part of the artist’s’ studio practice.
